Words that should exist in English language, but don’t

Posted By Mary Dane on July 4, 2008

Found this in a June 2005 issue of Reader’s Digest. According to the source, they’ve spotted some holes in the English language. So these are some words that should exist, but don’t…

communitake
The moment when you are halfway through telling someone a story – acting in the know and exaggerating like crazy – when you realize it was their story in the first place.

telepathetic
Someone who is always in the background of a live news report, waving stupidly at the camera. (also flaparazzi)

lovestuck
The moment on a first date when both people want to make a move but are scared of getting a knockback, as a result nothing happens.

eyesberg
The icy look a boy gives his mother when he wants her to stop talking to his girlfriend.

gluttonot
The last bit of food left on a plate because everyone wants to be polite.

moanotone
The faltering voice you use when you call your office to tell them you’re sick.

tearerist
A person in the cinema who is unwrapping his chips then eating them one by one, unaware he’s pissing everyone off with the loud crunching noise.

tortune
A catchy yet awful song that just don’t seem to get out of your head after hearing it once.

cosmetic perjury
A tactful or polite response required when you meet an old friend who is proud to have changed parts of their body even though it failed to improve their appearance.

veriflycation
An involuntary movement of checking the fly made by men as they went back to a public place after leaving the comfort room.
