Tags: Anabelle Rama, Angel Locsin, for the first time, KC Conception, Richard Gutierrez, Star Cinema
Henry and I have been expecting any of our two most anticipated movies in theaters, Hellboy and Death Race. But so much to our disappointments, none was out yet last Friday. So out of no choice, we went for Star Cinema’s For The First Time (believe me that was the last movie on our minds!) instead.
I admire KC so much for she’s undoubtedly smart and talented which I do believe has always been where she’s getting her popularity from apart from being the daughter of the hottest loveteam sensation in the local movie industry sometime in 80’s. And, just like the last few Star Cinema flicks, I didn’t expect the movie’s plot to be something new. But I expected it to be a little above average since it is, for the first time, starred by two of the best and good-looking talents in Philippine showbiz, KC Conception and Richard Gutierrez. But to my dismay, the movie was a total breakdown. Anabelle Rama can kill me now but it’s not gonna make me say less that this movie is a FAILURE. And the scripwriter can kill himself for shame.
Okay, I don’t wanna be too hard on the movie nor on Star Cinema. We’ve watched some movies from Star Cinema and we didn’t have anything against them except for the fact that they’re all a bunch of cheesiness. That is forgivable anyway. This movie somehow started off fine with its romantc comedy lines and, well, thanks for Candy Pangilinan and her other half on the movie for saving our day. I’ll start off my dislikes in the movie with the chemistry between KC and Richard by the way. Whoever says they got it in this movie can be a pretty good lawyer. Why did they even thought about making this movie? Oh I get it. It has a lot to do with KC and Richard’s much talked about real score in real life and not forgetting Richard’s mom swooning over KC more than he does. But, the hell, who cares? If they will just admit it, they wish they never have thought about this movie. I guess it’s the turn of the movie from a rom-com mode to a goodness gracious melodrama that made it a, sad to say, laughing stock (at least to those who have a good taste). You can say Seth (Richard) has said all juicy lines there is to win Pia (KC) over which I thought have been dead a very long time ago. In fairness to Richard, he did pretty well in most of his movies with Angel Locsin and some other chicks which is the reason why I’m not getting it that he failed this time. And to KC, for the love of god don’t let her weep next time! Well, she’s better off on stage plays and non-drama genres.
Overall, I’ll rate this movie 4.8 out of 10. That’s the highest I can give. And oops, everything I said on my review here were all just honest opinions. Everyone’s entitled to his or her own I guess.(^_^)

IF only we have a choice…
PROS:
-Candy Pangilinan and her pen pal entertained me
-Greece is a beautiful place
-Philip Salvador was scary and portrait a believable role
CONS:
-The title was NOT related to the story. The title was based on KC and Richard’s team up.
-Let’s be frank, forget the celebrities and location, the acting wasn’t that good especially KC.
-Is Philippine cinema always just produce these type of films? Drama and Comedy then say that blockbuster of the year every month. Then we can have an ‘extra’ effort every December during the Metro Manila Film Fest .
-The plot was mediocre.
-This film should be titled ‘The Field trip to Greece’. I believe Greece can be replaced with just a local place here in the Philippines as long as they focus on the acting and NOT just bragging about the location they shot.
-Replace KC with Angel

i always thought of that this film would suck, just seeing the trailers make me gag. i guess that’s why the Kapamilya Stars were promoting it in the commercials because the directors/producers knew that it would suck. unlike their other films, they didn’t need any propaganda to make people watch it.
i still have the “sundance hangover”….(chuckle)

@Admiral - Haha, funny we never did watch that one when we didn’t have a choice for a movie (despite we know John Lloyd acts way better than Richard), but did this one! Whatta shame haha!

Tama talaga hula ko hindi talaga maganda movie nila…hahaha…well I have to watch it first to know if my prediction is true…Actually they are both girted with a wonderful physical appearance. Crush ko si Richard but wala pa ko nakita na movie niya na masabi ko talaga na “thumps-up” ako…hehehe…for me lame talaga act niya…hahaha…but infairness and gwapo…
About KC hmmm…..she got a pretty face and a wonderful voice, but for me her acting sucks, even before I saw her series in ABS-CBN and from there I can say that she’s not a good actress unlike her mom……
Oh well……Nice review…ikaw na gyud dane…muah

Yes maybe the movie was not good enough for us because and maybe our mind was set into a situation that we set our own standard which based on there origin. We saw that their parents are both good actor and actress. Im not a funs club of this two but to be honest i like the movie…heheheheh ganahan lang gyud cguro tagalog movie kay maka relate ko ..toik..:)

I haven’t seen the movie so I don’t want to criticize. But I want to suggest a loveteam. Gabby and KC loveteam in a movie “For the Second Time”.hehe. Is it possible? We have seen Gabby and Claudine in an ABS-CBN teledrama. They also tried Aga and Ann Curtis in a movie which obviously has a large gap of age from each other. I think it could be a good experiment when Gabby and KC(not Sharon) in a lovestory movie…With a kissing scene.hehe.oink oink!
