What Dreams Mean
Looks like my last blog post is almost a week old.:( Sorry about that. I was just feeling lazy after work last week that I wasn’t able to write. Now I’m back to share with you what I learned about dreams – what they really mean.
Okay so, we all have our own understanding of dreams. As a child, I have this belief that dreams are opposites in reality. Like if you are a bully in your dream, in reality it’s either you were bullied or wait ‘til you get bullied. (That was so child-like.) That belief changed though as I grow up. At my age now, dreams for me have universal meaning. They have significance in reality. One night, I dreamed that my sister was miserable, crying, because somebody wanted to kill her. The night after, she sent me a message telling me she’s done with her boyfriend (she’s living in with him) and she’s coming back home to us. Though she did not tell me the reason why, I knew they had a terrible fight and she was upset. So that came to me as the meaning of the dream I had about her.
But lately I read an article and found out from today’s dream experts that thinking your dream has a universal meaning is a complete nonsense. Based on their research, dreams are “subconscious’s way of communicating with us”. So a likely explanation for me is; what runs through our heads throughout the day awake, might still go on as we sleep – that is why we do dream.
These experts listed 5 most typical dreams we all likely to have and explained how we have got these dreams.
-
Being Chased. Dreams of being chased usually happens when we get emotional or physical threat by a person (like murderer, rapists, stalker) or a situation (like witnessing a crime or something evil).
-
Falling. These dreams of falling out of bed, off a cliff, or even stumbling are the most common and sometimes we’re awaken with a jolt. These are said to come from a day’s problems and being “down” or no emotional support.
-
S**ual Dreams. Okay this might sound nasty of a dream but this is included in the list of most typical dreams. These dreams may come from a person’s desire (not necessarily s**ual) of another person. It can also be of something.
-
School Dreams. Students are usually the ones with these dreams – those of taking exams they never studied for are sort of nightmares to them. For grown ups, the dreams come from a feeling that their first test was in school and that feeling stays always.
-
Euphoria. The dreams of flying are thought by experts to come from our parents tossing us into the air when we were kids. But basically, these come from feeling of happiness and freedom in life.

i don’t dream often, often times i have this “deja vu” like feeling when i’m in a certain place and situation, so i thought i took the a “blue pill or a red pill”. But one dream really scared me, I was in this airplane, I was the pilot, and there were huge snakes down below where i was flying and those snakes caught the wings of my plane! and the next thing i knew when i woke up I was sweating and panting…seemed so real.
later that morning, after that dream, I was caught in an accident, i got hit by two cars with me in the middle…that was painful, i could still feel what the accident left me on my left foot.
so i think, sometimes dreams can be a medium to give us a warning or something…

you think the “snakes” would represent the “cars” that hit me?
go figure…

exactly! that’s how I look at dreams before - they warn us of something that might happen in reality.
But based on dream experts’ research, your “snakes” dream may fall on the “Being Chased” category. Like, you must have watched “Snakes on the Plane” movie (LOL) right before sleeping or something like that which led you to that dream.
LOL! i didn’t watch any scary films before that accident nor was Snakes on a Plane shown in cinemas when that happened. Actually I have my own interpretation it. o_O
